Focused ultrasound, cooled surface
Ultrasound energy is focused at set depths under the skin while the applicator cools the surface. The cooling is there to make the heat easier to tolerate.
More than one depth
Energy can be focused at different depths, for example 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm. The physician chooses depths for each area. The intended response is collagen renewal over the following months, and how much firming follows varies by individual.

How is CoolSoniq different from other HIFU?
The principle is the same: focused ultrasound reaching the deeper layers. CoolSoniq adds a cooling applicator that keeps the skin surface cool during treatment. If you found HIFU heat hard to tolerate before, that is the difference you are likely to notice.
Does it hurt?
Cooling takes some of the edge off, but you may still feel deep heat or brief prickling, especially over bone. The physician adjusts settings during the session if it is too much.
When would I notice a change?
