- Energy is not one number. The physician moves the level between about 1.5 and 3.0 by zone, lower where skin is thin or sensitive.
- Passes go where they help. Extra passes target the jawline and lower cheek; thin areas near the eye are skipped or treated with their own tip.
- Hollow cheeks are protected. Marked first and treated gently or left alone. Tightening is not the answer to lost volume.

How Thermage works
Monopolar radiofrequency warms the deep dermis. Existing collagen fibres can contract in the short term; further remodelling develops gradually over months. Some people notice early firming and some do not.
Thermage works on the dermis rather than the deeper SMAS layer. The physician may discuss Ultherapy when both layers need attention. Cooling helps manage comfort but does not remove side-effect risk.
Thermage FLX uses AccuREP energy calibration and a cooled, vibrating tip. Solta Medical manufactures the device. Individual results vary.
Research and repeat sessions
Research on facial and neck laxity does not show that a combined package works better, and it cannot predict the result of a particular shot count.
Thermage is usually done as a single session, with the shot count chosen for your area. The physician confirms the plan and timing after assessment, and any repeat is decided at follow-up.

How is Thermage different from Ultherapy?
They work on different layers. Thermage uses monopolar radiofrequency to warm a broad area of the dermis. Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to place heat at set depths, including the SMAS.
Some faces suit one, some suit neither, and some are advised to have both. The physician decides after examining where the looseness sits. Individual results vary.
When will I see a change, and how long does it last?
Some people feel the skin is firmer soon after treatment, as heat tightens existing collagen. Most of any change comes from collagen remodelling, which builds gradually over months. How much you see and how long it lasts vary, so the next treatment is planned at follow-up rather than fixed in advance.
Does it hurt, and what will my skin look like afterwards?
Each pulse feels hot for a moment, even with the cooled tip. The physician adjusts the settings as you go and you can ask for a pause. Afterwards the skin can look red or feel warm, swollen or tender. How visible this is varies, so tell us about any event or flight close to your treatment date.
Who should not have Thermage?
Tell us before booking if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electrical device, metal implants in the treatment area, an active skin infection, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Any of these can rule Thermage out or change the plan.
Thermage is also not designed for heavy sagging or a large amount of excess skin. If that is what the physician sees, you will hear it at consultation.
What should I send on WhatsApp before booking?
Send clear daylight photos of your face from the front and both sides, your travel dates, and any lifting treatments, fillers or threads you have had, with rough dates. Mention any implants or medical devices. The physician can then tell you whether Thermage is worth planning around your trip. The final decision is made in person.

Monopolar radiofrequency compared with microfocused ultrasound for mild-to-moderate face and upper-neck laxity. It does not cover a particular Thermage generation, the eye tip, a dose or a combined treatment plan.
A small study of monopolar radiofrequency and microfocused ultrasound reported improvement in facial and neck laxity, but it does not establish results for a particular Thermage model or treatment plan.
A randomized split-face trial in 20 people followed for six months. Both sides improved with no significant difference between them, which is not evidence that the two treatments are equivalent, and the abstract does not name the commercial devices used.
